How does reviewing a resource and leaving a comment support Open Educational Practices?
(Please reply directly to this prompt.)
When you review a resource it allows you to share your opinion (likes/dislikes) and leaving a comment would allow you to share your ideas with others.
When we review a resource and leave a comment, we truly become a part of the OER community in that we collaborate and share. We appreciate input on our resource so that we may have an opportunity to improve it.
Objectively reviewing and commenting on a resource may provide others with valuable insight on a resource. If the review/comments focus on a specific set of criteria, like DOK/standards alignment, we may have objective glimpses into a resource. If a resource is not aligned in a way that works for the reviewer, they can provide specific ways in which a resource does not match their need in the comments.
Reviewing a resource helps to support OEP in knowing what are the direct needs of educators and learners. It also provides constructive criticism through the informed lens of an educator. In sharing a comment, it creates an opportunity for evaluating resources interms of relevance, content, assessment and standards alignment.
