by Joanna Schimizzi 3 years, 2 months ago

Engage in discussion by commenting and replying to someone else in the discusion board:

  1. What are common reasons for misalignment/incomplete alignment?
  2. How can the #GoOpenUSVI platform foster productive discussion about different viewpoints regarding resource alignment?
  3. How does (could) your PLC use alignment discussions in your planning cycles?

1.) The common reason for misalignment or incomplete alignment is when the subject matter is not coherent with what is being presented or talk about.

2.) GoOpenUSVI platform can foster productive discussion by listening to everyone who brings something new to the discussion according to their understanding of the subject matter at hand.

3.) PLC use alignment discussions in your planning cycles to 1) Review student data  2) setting learning goals, 3) reflecting on teaching practice, 4) exploring resources to learn about new practices, and 5) planning how to apply new learning.

Winifred you have made a valid point that misalignment is when the subject matter is not coherent with what is presented. This can be misleading .

1. Common reasons for misalignment/incomplete alignment may be carelessness on the author's part. The author may not have reviewed the resource thoroughly and may decide to return to align it. However, the author may not even return to align the resource.

2. PDs and resources can be posted in #GoOpenUSVI concerning the above topic.

3.

Misalgnment/incomplete may not only be carelessness of the author(s) part, but it could be only viewing the resource from his/her understanding.

1. Common reasons for misalignment/incomplete alignment is the need for coordination (coherency) between standards, curriculum, instruction and assessment.

2. The #GoOpenUSVI platform can foster productive discussion by allowing everyone to have a "voice" about how a resource may be aligned/utilized.

3. PLC could use alignment discussions in planning cycles to:

  • review instructional strategies
  • explore resources
  • reflect on teaching/learning
  • problem solve
Sheree Beckford Thorpe 3 years, 1 month ago

1. One common reason for misalignment/incomplete  alignment is content that is not designed for a particular grade or competence level.

2. The GoOpenUSVI platform foster productive discussion in that educators are allowed to make comments from an informed perspective. It is a platform that engenders a homogeneous group of collaborators that share similar goals who are able to share n a comfortable working and learning space.

3. PLC could use alignment discussions in planning cycles to direct instructions to meet the needs of learners. They can also be used for the purpose of assessment that will provide data that can be used to evaulate growth and learning.
