- How does (could) your PLC use alignment discussions in your planning cycles?
Alignment issues are variesd and may stem from several sources. Incomplete evaluation of standards associatied with a lesson or grade band may pose mislalignment issues. The appropriate DOK and cognitive rigor may not be embedded or in some cases not applied at the correct level. It is not only important that resources are aligned properly, but it is critical is steering those who rely upon the evaluation taggged aright. #GoOpenUSVI is an excellent platform to fuel meaningful discourse regarding alignment considerations and to open up the port for deeper and robust contributions. This is accomplished as many share to this learning community. Ideas can then be filtered through local PLC sessions providing critical evaluation and remixing of resources to meet the needs of the educator as well as students.
Good Day Ms. Ravalier! I loved your viewpoint on the answers to the questions. I agree that the platform is great for fueling meaningful discussions, while also having access to resources from the contributors. This truly helps with creating efficiency and drives discussions among the educational community regarding resources.
Let us continue collabrating so this spark may turn ablaze! Thank you for your dedication to the process.
Some common reasons for misalignment or incomplete alignment could be individuals not understanding the standards fully or how to deconstruct it. This can cause the lesson to have objectives or assessments that don’t match with the standards.
The #GoOpenUSVI platform can foster productive discussions about different viewpoints regarding resource alignment because it allows for collaboration to play a role! This open website would allow for teachers to listen to other viewpoints while also creating and selecting a resources that fit their instruction within their classroom.
My PLC could use alignment discussions in our planning cycles to generate new ideas and also create lessons that can cater to the students within our classrooms. The discussions can also motivate and help teachers understand why alignment is important based on the data.
I agree with many of your sentiments Ms. Hewitt!
How can the #GoOpenUSVI platform foster productive discussion about different viewpoints regarding resource alignment? This platform can foster productive discussions from different viewpoints by continuing to collaborate via trainings and webinars with teachers across grade and subject levels.
How does (could) your PLC use alignment discussions in your planning cycles? We can use alignment discussions in our planning cycles to reflect and collaboratively contribute to an approach that works best for the educator. Educators want to be heard and have a say in the discussions about short and long term curriculum, instruction and development –this is where different opinions can be heard.
Misalignment may be due to misunderstanding of the standard or even the inability to properly deconstruct these standards.
The GoOpenUSVI allows for more open discussion of what the standards mean and how resources can be aligned.
We are still in the process of constructing PLC's
I agree that many people in education do not knwo how to deconstruct our standards and due to that reason, alignment is a challenge.
