Students will learn about the St. Croix Botanical Gardens and its big trees through the Big Trees of Saint Croix App. Using this app, students will locate the trees using GPS location from Big Trees of Saint Croix Book. Students will contribute to building this app. Then, students will use AppLab in code.org to build their app. 

The objective of this lesson is to teach kids about food advertising. To compare and contrast the portrayal of real food versus processed food in the media.

Students learn about the advantages and disadvantages of the greenhouse effect. They construct their own miniature greenhouses and explore how their designs take advantage of heat transfer processes to create controlled environments. They record and graph measurements, comparing the greenhouse indoor and outdoor temperatures over time. Students are also introduced to global issues such as greenhouse gas emissions and their relationship to global warming.
