Science experts in the U.S. Virgin Islands presents Keeping our Coastlines Clean a U.S. Virgin Islands Marine Debris Curriculum Adapted from Oregon Sea Grant Marine Debris STEAMSS curriculum and NOAA curricula "Turning the Tide on Trash" and "Talking Trash and Taking Action."
The curriculum includes 15 spotlights, which highlight USVI-specific marine debris research, local researchers, community-led prevention efforts and natural disaster impacts from marine debris, specifically Hurricanes Irma and Maria, which impacted the U.S. Virgin Islands community as two category 5 storms in September 2017. Users can review and utilize lessons aligned to Next Generation Science Standards beginning on page 9 of the document.
