The Agriscience/Intro to Agriculture course helps students acquire a broad understanding of a variety of agricultural areas, develop an awareness of the many career opportunities in agriculture, participate in occupationally relevant experiences, and work cooperatively with a group to develop and expand leadership abilities. Students study California agriculture, agricultural business, agricultural technologies, natural resources, and animal, plant, and soil sciences.

Students analyze images of Oscar Wilde used to publicize his 1882 American lecture tour. They then compare a caricature to another researched image, sharing this analysis in a podcast.

EL Education does not provide a discrete character education program because we believe that character is not separate from scholarship: character education happens all day long. Explicit focus on character, reflection on character, and critique of character is present in every part of school, whether students are in hallways or in classes. In Module 10.1, students engage with literature and nonfiction texts and explore how complex characters develop through their interactions with each other, and how these interactions develop central ideas such as parental and communal expectations, self-perception and performance, and competition and learning from mistakes.

In this module, students will read, discuss, and analyze contemporary and classic texts, focusing on how complex characters develop through interactions with one another and how authors structure text to accomplish that development. There will be a strong emphasis on reading closely and responding to text dependent questions, annotating text, and developing academic vocabulary in context.

In this module, students engage with literature and nonfiction texts that develop central ideas of guilt, obsession, and madness, among others. Building on work with evidence-based analysis and debate in Module 1, students will produce evidence-based claims to analyze the development of central ideas and text structure. Students will develop and strengthen their writing by revising and editing, and refine their speaking and listening skills through discussion-based assessments.

In Module 9.3, students engage in an inquiry-based, iterative process for research. Building on work with evidence-based analysis in Modules 9.1 and 9.2, students explore topics of interest, gather research, and generate an evidence-based perspective to ultimately write an informative/explanatory research paper that synthesizes and articulates their findings. Students use textual analysis to surface potential topics for research, and develop and strengthen their writing by revising and editing.

Students read a work of realistic fiction about bullying and gain understanding through writing, Readers Theatre, and discussion.

One of America's greatest heroes is Martin Luther King Jr. He battled to repeal discriminatory laws against African Americans in the 1950s and 1960s. He strove to ensure that all citizens in the United States have the same rights.The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 were greatly influenced by Martin Luther King Jr. The Civil Rights Act made it illegal to discriminate on the basis of "race, color, religion, or national origin" in the workplace and public places. The Voting Rights Act ensures that African Americans can exercise their right to vote.Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is honored every year on the third Monday in January in the United States. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and work are commemorated on this day.

Using published writers' texts and students' own writing, this unit explores emotions that are associated with the artful and deliberate use of commas, semicolons, colons, and exclamation points (end-stop marks of punctuation).

This is in stark contrast to the origin of small hunting and gathering bands of Homo sapiens on the plains of East Africa. that existed close to 200,000 years ago. From these origins, Homo sapiens gradually VISAgrated throughout the world. This lengthy journey culVISAnated 14,000 years ago, with the human colonization of the last region of the earth, the Southern Cone of Argentina. At the end of this lengthy process of VISAgration, the earth was divided into four distinct areas called world zones.

Silent Discussion takes the strengths of a well-managed verbal classroom discussion and moves into a written discussion. Some of the benefits of this move include: all students participate; students practice writing in a low-stakes, social format; and students engage with content skills and knowledge.
